LyZadie Design Studio is proud to announce the launch of the PIN&YANG COLLECTION – a bold new furniture line that balances the dualities of beauty and function, tradition and innovation with spirit and material. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang and a cherished black pin from founder Lyzadie’s architectural background, this deeply personal collection continues Lyzadie’s journey of design rooted in meaning, memory, and mindfulness.

At the heart of the PIN&Yang Collection is a new collaboration with architect Young Wei-Yang Chiu, the CEO of Quality Innovation United (QIU), an international studio headquartered in both Europe and Asia. Lyzadie and Young first met 30 years ago while studying architecture at the University of Auckland. After almost two decades as a senior partner at Norman Foster’s global practice, Young launched his own design brand. Recently Young and Lyzadie rekindled a friendship and creative synergy that now comes to life through their first collaborative collection.

“We share values that go beyond aesthetics,” says Lyzadie. “We’re both passionate about ethical design, craftsmanship, and sustainability. The PIN&Yang Collection is not just about form – it’s about where and how things are made, and the spirit behind them.”

The Collection Includes dining table and chairs, coffee table and side table. The side table and chair will debut at this year’s 3daysofDesign exhibit in Copenhagen.

Crafted in Asia, using ethically sourced beechwood from responsibly managed forests, the PIN&Yang pieces are finished with low-VOC, eco-friendly coatings. With plans for the striking black detailing to be made with ethical materials – also seen in LyZadie’s ReLEATHERED or TUI collection. All materials are chosen for their low environmental impact and long-term durability.

With a growing international demand for their products, LyZadie Design Studio has searched for ways to reduce international shipping and support the local production economies of new customers. Therefore, all items are handcrafted by skilled local artisans close to the QIU studio in the Greater Bay Area, supporting local economies and reducing the environmental footprint of global shipping. Remaining true to their philosophy of “inspired by this land, crafted by her makers,” LyZadie Design Studio ensures each collaboration uplifts the communities it touches. Limited production and made-to-order manufacturing further minimize waste and excess, continuing the studios unwavering focus on ethical design.

The PIN&Yang Collection follows in the footsteps of a number of previous collections from LyZadie Design Studio which have offered a personal and spiritual narrative expressed through physical form. Lyzadie’s background in martial arts and her lifelong connection with Asian culture make this collaboration feel not only natural but very personal. “This collection represents the full circle of friendship, philosophy, and place,” says Lyzadie. “It’s about harmony in all things – between people, between the environment and what we create, and between the past and the future.”
