The FLOWKINTSUGI Collection by LyZadie begins with one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most extraordinary natural treasures: ancient Swamp Kauri, timber that has rested beneath the earth and wetlands for thousands, and in some cases tens of thousands, of years.

Preserved by nature, then carefully recovered, each piece emerges bearing the markings of its extraordinary passage through time. Its grain, colour, fissures and imperfections cannot be recreated. No two pieces will ever be the same.

Rather than erase those traces, FLOWKINTSUGI celebrates them.

The collection evolved from LyZadie’s FLOW Collection, inspired by the braided rivers of New Zealand’s South Island, vast waterways continually dividing, converging and reshaping the landscape as they move from mountain to sea.

Those same flowing lines travel across the surface of FLOWKINTSUGI.

Brass moves through the ancient timber like rivers seen from above: branching, reconnecting and sometimes cascading beyond the edge of the furniture to become part of its structure. What begins as an inlay becomes a leg, a gesture, a sculptural moment.

It is as though the river has escaped the surface.

At the heart of the collection is also the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi, the art of honouring what has been broken rather than concealing it. Traditionally, fractures are repaired with precious metal, transforming evidence of damage into something worthy of celebration.

FLOWKINTSUGI carries this philosophy into furniture.

Natural cracks, knots, scars and irregularities within the timber are not considered faults. They are part of its history. Brass becomes a contemporary interpretation of repair and renewal: highlighting rather than hiding, drawing attention to the moments where nature has left its mark.

The result is furniture that speaks about far more than function.

It speaks of resilience. Of landscapes constantly changing yet enduring. Of the beauty that can emerge through transformation. Of respecting what already exists rather than continually taking something new from the Earth.

Ancient Swamp Kauri sits in deliberate contrast with the precision and luminosity of brass: one material shaped slowly by nature and time, the other shaped by human hands. Together they form a dialogue between land and maker, imperfection and refinement, past and present.

Each FLOWKINTSUGI piece is individually considered around the timber itself. The material leads the design. Its proportions, grain and natural formations determine how the brass moves, where the lines divide and where they reconnect.

For this reason, no FLOWKINTSUGI piece can truly be repeated.

Each is a one-of-a-kind work, part furniture, part sculpture, part landscape, handcrafted in Aotearoa by highly skilled makers and intended to live for generations.

In a world of increasingly disposable objects, FLOWKINTSUGI asks us to value the opposite: rarity, craftsmanship, provenance, longevity and emotional connection.

To live with one is to live with a fragment of ancient Aotearoa.

A tree that once stood in another world. A landscape shaped by water. A material preserved through millennia. A story continued through human hands.
