LyZadie Design Studio is proud to unveil The Sleeve Collection, a poetic new collaboration with artist Michelle Huizinga. This collection celebrates the soft power of nature and the female form, beginning with a series of exquisite, sculptural vases. These are not just vessels—they are quiet statements of strength, tenderness, and transformation.
Drawing inspiration from the husks of the nīkau palm and the elegant fall of a woman’s sleeve, each vase in The Sleeve Collection is a study in texture, movement, and the natural cycle of the forest. The natural world is not static, and neither are these pieces. Hand-built with white stoneware, they capture the fleeting beauty of the nīkau frond sleeve as it dries—fine lines forming as the it begins to break down, an echo of the life it once held. There is grace in that unravelling. There is power in softness.
The silhouettes are sensuous—bellied like the kererū, fluted like a dancer’s calf, each curve a tribute to flow and femininity. These forms are not manufactured—they are crafted. Carefully. Thoughtfully. By hand.
Both Michelle and Lyzadie share a deep connection to nature, and that reverence is embedded in every piece. Sustainability is not an afterthought—it is the framework. The vases are just the beginning. In time, The Sleeve Collection will expand to include chairs, crafted from sustainable timber using the same values that have long guided the studio: respect for the land, transparency in process, and an unwavering belief in beauty with purpose.
