Some ideas never really leave us.

TUI REVISITED began with the original TUI Armchair, a piece inspired by one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most distinctive native birds. Years later, LyZadie returns to that first idea from a different place, looking beyond the physical beauty of the Tūī to something more elemental: its extraordinary movement through the landscape.

A Tūī rarely seems still.

It darts between branches, drops through the air, twists, climbs and changes direction with an almost explosive energy. One moment grounded within the canopy, the next in flight.

It is this moment between departure and return that became the inspiration for TUI REVISITED.

The collection explores the relationship between movement and stillness, freedom and belonging, lightness and strength.

At its heart is the tree.

A place to land. A place to rest. A place to return to.

The substantial pieces of ancient Swamp Kauri within each design become symbolic of this grounding, a connection to the land and to something far older than ourselves. Around them, softer sculptural forms move, wrap and extend as though caught in motion.

Rather than recreating the Tūī, the collection seeks to capture how it feels to watch one move.

That brief flash through the trees. The upward sweep. The pause. And then flight again.

Ancient material. New movement.

Each piece brings together materials chosen not simply for their beauty, but for the values they represent.

Ancient New Zealand Swamp Kauri sits alongside responsibly sourced timber, natural latex and wool cushioning, and Desserto Pelle, an innovative plant-based biomaterial.

Hard and soft. Ancient and contemporary. Grounded and weightless.

The contrast is deliberate.

The irregularity and history of the timber is celebrated rather than concealed. No two pieces of Swamp Kauri are exactly alike, allowing each furniture piece to develop its own character and become an individual expression of the collection.

This is ethical luxury not as an aesthetic, but as a philosophy.

A belief that extraordinary objects can be created with greater respect for materials, makers and the natural world.

TUI REVISITED expands the original idea into a family of sculptural furniture, an armchair, lounge chair, stool and bench seat, each exploring the same conversation between movement and grounding in a different way.

Generous upholstered forms invite the body to settle, while sculptural timber elements give each piece its strength and presence.
